Founders Day in Urbanna

August 1, 2020
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Established in 1680, Urbanna is one of the oldest towns in America! Celebrate the founding of this port town starting with the tobacco and oyster trades.

The Opening Presentation starts at 10:00 am held at the Middlesex County Women’s Club at 202 Virginia Street, Urbanna, VA. The presentation will be a narrative of the lives of three “Founding Fathers’” and their families who sought to establish the Town of Urbanna as a port community which would serve the needs of the plantation owners as well as the surrounding inhabitants. The Founding Fathers are Capt. Harry Beverley (1669-1730), the Honorable John Robinson (1683-1749), and Colonel Christopher Robinson, II (1681-1727). The balladeers fife and drums will play between 12:00 noon-1:00 pm with cookies and lemonade to follow.
