Tour De Chesapeake Mathews Cycling Event

May 16, 2020
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Located in Mathews, VA, on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, the Tour de Chesapeake cycling event, now in its 22nd year, offers rural, flat roads that all lead to water. There are 4 concise routes ranging from 23 to 101 miles in length, which take cyclists from our own Gwynn's Island to Bethel Beach to the New Point Lighthouse. Each route has fully stocked rest stops, SAG support and lovely views galore! We are the only ride that offers a WATER TAXI on an authentic Chesapeake Bay Deadrise within one of the routes! Our ride culminates on Saturday evening with a Seafood Feast and Party at the Wharf, at the Riverfront Pavilion at historic Williams Wharf Landing.

The supported ride is all day on Saturday, but we hope you will make a weekend of it and see all Mathews has to offer.

Arts & Wine Festival at Locust Grove

May 16, 2020
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

This festival has everything for the family to enjoy: beautiful artwork, delicious wines to taste, delectable food, wonderful music, a kid's activity area, a silent auction, horse & carriage rides and a wondrous view of the Mattaponi River.  The Walker family has owned Locust Grove for 350 years and they love to share this wonderful land on the river with others.  So come and bring a chair or a blanket, sit back, relax, listen to music, sip some wine, watch the river meander by and buy some beautiful artwork for your home.  The kid's will enjoy making their own artwork while learning about the river and what could be better than taking an old fashioned carriage ride around the yard.  A day you will never forget.
