The Mathews Farmers Market has received the Coastal Virginia's People Choice Award for Best Farmers Market in 2016 and 2017! Traditionally taking place on Saturdays, April thru October, 9am-1pm, Main Street features a special Christmas market coming this December 8th, right before the Downtown Christmas Parade starting at 1pm! This market features seasonal produce, home-made crafts and baked goods, local breads, deserts, Mairi's famous Scottish shortbread, and sustainably grown seasonal meats for your holiday meal! Also take care of some of your holiday shopping from locally-made goods such as ornaments, pottery, pillows, clothing, and jewelry vendors!
The Upstairs Downstairs All Around The House Art Show

A holiday show giving you an opportunity to purchase handmade, one of a kind Christmas gifts from 12 artists who are set up in all the rooms of Locust Grove Plantation. Each artist creates their own gallery in each of the rooms to show and sell their art or craft. Locust Grove is decorated for Christmas and the dining room is filled with fabulous food and hot drinks for you to enjoy. From the moment you step into this home, which was rebuilt in 1775, you will feel the Christmas spirit all around you. Paintings, jewelry, flutes, utensils, Christmas decorations, cards, and Native American artwork are just a few of the lovely gifts that you will find at this unique arts and crafts show.
